Knowsley Safari Park Voted Britian’s Top Wildlife Attraction By TV Viewers

– The park on Lord Derby's estate beat eight other leading UK attractions to win the survey organised by the digital TV channel, which specialises in natural history programming.
Knowsley was competing against attractions including Blackpool Zoo, Bristol Zoo, Blue Planet Aquarium, West Midlands Leisure and Safari Park, Marwell Wildlife Park, Paignton Zoo, Colchester Zoo and Blair Drummond Safari Park.
The Merseyside safari park received 41% of the overall votes from Eden viewers, compared to its nearest rival, Marwell Wildlife Park, which received 18%.
Knowsley General Manager, David Ross, commented: "Everyone at the park is delighted that we've been named Wildlife Attraction of the Year by a prestigious TV channel like Eden."
"The feedback we receive from visitors is always very positive, and it's pleasing that so many of them have taken the time and trouble to vote for us, including our friends on social networking sites like Facebook."
Eden Channel Head, Adrian Wills says: "We are delighted that Knowsley Safari Park has won Eden's inaugural award to find Britain's Top Wildlife Attraction and has proved so popular with our viewers and their visitors."
Knowsley Safari Park, which first opened its gates to the public in July 1971, will celebrate its 40th anniversary next Summer.
Current highlights of its five-mile safari drive include the ever-popular monkey jungle, with more than 100 mischievous baboons, and the largest pride of lions in the history of the park.
There are also three young white rhinos, and several pregnant rhino cows, making Knowsley a European hotspot in terms of breeding this rare species.
